Students on their way back to school for the spring semester have a lot to look forward to:
Motley Fool reports that Congress is considering a bill that would cut student loan interest rates in half by 2011 - so, kids taking out loans in 2011 could be paying as little as 3.4% interest. Interest rates would revert, however, back to 6.8% in 2012. With the college costs increasing by the thousands every year, the proposed interest cut is slightly bittersweet - kids in 2011 will be paying half as much interest on loans for tuition that’s twice as expensive.
Following an “all day lovefest” for librarians and publishers, Google launched the Librarian Central Blog. The blog is still meager in content, but will inform librarians about relevant Google product launches and features. On a related note, Google’s also cozying up to publishers in China - As AsiaMedia reports, Google has partnered with Cite Publishing Holding Group to add thousands of Chinese titles to Google Book Search.
Finally, Yahoo has a new School Search tool in their Real Estate section. Surprisingly, Yahoo has not incorporated user reviews as a part of their school listing tool. Isn’t that what parents are most concerned with?

Kate,

User reviews are actually incorporated for all schools where reviews have been posted, example: http://realestate.yahoo.com/New_York/New_York/Schools/s:A._Philip_Randolph_Campus_High_School
Thanks for pointing out the user reviews Brian, I clearly missed them the first time around. I knew it seemed strange!
