A number of really interesting stories made their way around the email listserv today. Here’s a sample from today’s Reprise Media reading list:
- MSN, Ingenio Jump on Pay Per Call: MSN and Ingenio announced their partnership on Monday to launch Pay Per Call through Mobile Search. From Engaget, “this partnership will allow users who search for local “businesses, restaurants, and services” to see a single banner ad which will automatically ring up a nearby supplier with just a click.”
- Internet Number One Source for Consumer Information: The Consumer Electronics Association released a report on the influence of online consumer research on offline purchase decisions. CEA conculudes: the Internet is important. From Screenwerk, “Of the $32.5 billion spent on the five consumer electronics categories in the first six months of the year, online research influenced $25.1 billion of that spending. Among the online sources, the study also concluded that search had a direct or indirect influence on $15.2 billion of CE buying.”
- Stumbling Upon Traffic: In the shadow of well-known bookmarking sites digg.com and del.icio.us, StumbledUpon rarely gets the recognition it deserves. One blogger shows traffic stats to prove that StumbledUpon is an SEO force to be reckoned with.
- If You Don’t Look At Anything Else: READ this one. A fascinating article in the NY Times today about Google Bombing by the Democratic party. Looks like the sneaky Dems have finally figured out search.
