We got wind of a couple of AdWords stories from Search Engine Watch this morning, starting with Google’s announcement that an AdWords advertising option has been integrated into Google Base.
The “edit item” page of Google’s online classifieds feature now contains an AdWords Ad box that allows users to create an ad at the same time they write the rest of the listing. We have a feeling this will be most attractive to purveyors of big ticket items. Folks who are new to AdWords will have to set up an account before they can buy ads to help unload their surplus harware, treasured childhood memories, and what-have-you.
For serious advertisers who use AdWords the old-fashoined way, get ready to switch to an upgraded API - version 4 is now available. Among other updates, AdWords is adding local timezone support, and they’ve tweaked the traffic estimator - but they won’t be supporting “non-standard” country codes anymore. For those of you who’ve really taken a shine to version 3, you only have a couple of months left to enjoy it; Google suggests upgrading to V4 by July 12, before V3 support “sunsets.”
