Rumors of Google / Opera Acquisition

Is Google going to acquire Opera?
Rumors are circulating that the search engine may be buying the open source web browser, which has a relatively small audience share but a strong presence in the mobile space.
Close to the root of the rumor is a story in the New Google Blog which references this blog post (sorry, it’s in French) by Pierre Chappaz, former president of Yahoo Europe.
At first glance Opera doesn’t seem like a Google-esque buy, but we’ll have to wait to find out for sure, as the G is remaining mum and Opera is in denial.
