Choice of browser may make a big difference in whether or not users are likely to click on your online ads.
A new study by German advertising technology provider Adtech found that significantly more Internet Explorer users click on ads than users of Firefox, up to four times the number.
Adtech Chief Operations Officer Dirk Freytag said that Firefox’s integrated pop-up blocker and the different surfing behaviors of Firefox and IE users are likely to blame.
Interesting findings and ones that could cause some concern (or at least a shift in tactics) as Firefox adoption continues to grow. Then again, as this article states, the Firefox users that do click on ads could be more worthwhile:
“…click-throughs from Firefox users could actually be more valuable-if a Firefox user is considered more likely to have intentionally clicked on an advertisement.”
