Yahoo Launches Vertical Search Engine on HotJobs

Is Yahoo entering the job market? Paidcontent.org reports that the search giant has quietly launched a vertical search engine on HotJobs, with a graphic proclaiming “Search For Jobs Across the Web!” A simple query now shows listings from HotJobs first as well as postings on job boards and employer sites.

Deeper examination reveals a page with more details:

“No more searching dozens of sites to find the jobs that you want. We’ve already collected jobs from the major web sites you know, and also the hard-to find ones you may have been missing.”

First reported on the Online Recruitment Blog, blogger Joel Cheesman says this:

“If there was ever any question that the big search engines (Yahoo!, Google, MSN) were getting into the vertical search game for jobs, this is undeniable proof.”

Right on. Yahoo has first-mover advantage on this one, though the rumors that Google is developing a classifieds system of its own have been blowing around for a while now. And don’t count out the smaller start-ups like Indeed and SimplyHired.

Yahoo! entered the job market long before the launch of the Universal Search engine on Hotjobs…since 2002, Yahoo! has helped make Hotjobs a leader in online recruitment…..now it’s just blowing away the competition.
