SEO Discussion on Wikipedia

Wikipedia’s article on SEO is nothing new. It’s been around for a few years and has undergone more revisions than most.
However, SEOmoz.org points to the discussion page, which shows a fair amount of editor bias against the SEO industry as a whole.
Here are a few choice quotes from Wikipedia editors as they debate some amendments to the article:
- “The Ethical SEO paper you put back is probably borderline. In fact, almost everything to do with SEO is borderline.”
- “The ethics section was pretty appalling, and obviously written by someone without any grasp of the SEO industry. I’ve since added what I hope is a more balanced middle grounds.”
- [On the subject of WebMasterWorld.com] “It’s a message board, like you stated yourself. Unless it is particularly notable or canonical, there’s no reason for us to link to it, that’s what Google is for.”
Just goes to show you that even those with a rep for being unbiased still have a pretty dark view of the industry.
