New week, new features for MyJeeves, the customizable personal search system by Ask Jeeves, Inc.
Helping searchers keep “found things found” is the goal of the new functionality, according to Jim Lanzone, senior VP of search properties at Ask Jeeves. Studies show that over 50% of searchers will search again (often using the same terms) for information they’ve previously accessed.
The news is still pretty fresh (here’s the press release on Yahoo!), so we haven’t had a chance to give it a test run, but here’s a quick rundown of what’s new:
- More Ways to Get Data: Toolbar integration lets you send web pages directly to your MyJeeves folder, import links to pages from other MyJeeves users via email, and integrate regular IE, Firefox, etc. bookmarks into your MyJeeves folders.
- Image Support: Save links to images and display within MyJeeves as thumbnails, tagging and preview of pics.
- Better Information Management: Support for hierarchical folders (up to 7 levels deep) the ability to add meta data to existing data.
The ability to add meta data to your MyJeeves data is cool, and will get even cooler once you can search/sort by your tags. The press release also talks about the MyJeeves integration with the desktop product and Bloglines, which we’re also excited to see.
Take a cruise around the new updates in this tutorial.

The best feature so far on the NET. The saving of searches works for many different reasons. Basic fact that one can do a more penetrating research only when s/he is can start where the strands were left last.
